Question

Driving my Sti3 this morning, I noticed a weird noise as I accelerated, between 3500-4000rpm. It sounds like a flat air horn, but I can't reproduce it every time.

Any clues?

cheers

Sounds like you need a new BOV. It's a common fault, and it's mentioned in the SIDC FAQ.

Thumbs up

cheers Jerry, I've spotted it in the SIDC FAQ now

Is it worth buying an uprated BOV whilst I'm replacing it? (I run everything basically standard.)

Your welcome mate!

I'd go for a recirculating Forge BOV, they're quite good value for money IMHO.

I've just installed a venting one on my scoob (sad and very max power - I know), and haven't had any issues yet....my car is going to be linked by BRD this summer, and I don't think the venting BOV will cause any issues at all then.

If it'd been on an otherwise stock car - like yours - I would've bought the recircualting model.

In my car I definately felt that the car had more oompfh (well, kinda...'tis a mere "dodgy spec" 218 hp scoob) after gearchange - common knowledge is that this is BS...but I really noticed it...so I'm basically a happy bastid who doesn't care what the gurus say.

blablalbalbla

Cheers

Jezzabel,

you would have noticed a performance gain if it was leaking before, or if like mine it was, opening too early.

Forge going on soon.

Keep an eye on the wanted forum as I think there might be a nother forge item on there soon.
