Induction filters and MAF Failure
#1
Having read most past topics on induction filters many claim than they had their MAF sensors damaged. Most cases were in (1) Newer models, and (2) Blitz, Ramair filters.
Are there any cases of MAF failures after using the K&N 57i model on a MY99?
I am trying to find the 'safest' induction filter to place on my MY99.

Have had KN57i on my MY99 since July last year.
Touch wood no probs so far.
Was warned of posible failures at last service but like the noise too much to go back to standard.
KN should filter better than standard and if mounted proerly shouldn't rattle MAF to bits.
Personally I think induction kits were a convenient scapegoat for poor MAF design

I'm using PiperCross, with very little oil on my MY00 and haven't had any problem with my MAF.
Nowadays I have no idea if it works at all since I'm running possumlink, but it worked well for 4 months or so, and the PiperX gave a nice increase in power!

Dmel,
Didn't think the Blitz damaged the MAF, only induction kits that are oil pregnated? Some say the filtration isn't very good on the Blitz.....
Had a Blitz induction kit on my MY96 and it rocked. Don't see why it gets such bad press, especially when you look on dyno.scoobynet.co.uk and the fastest scooby's are running Blitz induction kits!
