Cool

i had my ppp done recently and i'm VERY pleased with the increased oomph.
however, the car is TOO quiet now ( i had a full decat prior to ppp)
i need some noise back! is the ss backbox louder than the prodrive one? what centre section is used when u have ppp fitted? and what exactly is overboost, and what happens if it does?
i have a ss backbox, hks downpipe and magnex centre laying round with nothing to do. what bits can i put back on without causing problems?
like i say, i love the ppp, i just wish it was louder!
thanks for any advice!

I had a SS b/box, straight through centre section and d/p on my MY99 PPP - certainly made it louder

The centre section with the PPP is the STi centre - no cats, but has two resonators/baffles/silencers in which makes it more restrictive.

No Overbost, No Problems, No real idea what overboost is, except a peak of high boost normally around 3000rpm?

Overboost is where the ECU detects to high a boost level (normally around 1.25 bar) and briefly chops the fuel to avoid engine damage.

The effect is quite a violent jolt, normally felt when you are booting it in 3rd or 4th.

Its normally caused by freeing the airflow (a Scoobysport back box and Ramair filter was enough to get my MY98 doing it).

The recommended dealer fix is a boost restrictor in a hose that lowers boost pressure although you will notice a performance degredation.

Cool

I have heard a rumour that you can change your brand of air-freshener without invalidating your PPP warranty, but please confirm this with Prodrive before going ahead.

James H

Just a quick question - overboost. I am thinking of changing the dp to a non-catted type, with rest of system standard. I have been told that this will improve pick up of the turbo, great. However, if this is going to then mean possible overboosting problems (where a restictor will have to be fitted) then it seems like a pointless exercise to change the dp in the first place???
