MY98 UK, 60k on clock.
i lost 3rd tonight, gearbox is coming out tomorrow and being stripped to check extent of damage (work being carried out by a friend of the family who happens to be a subaru rally car builder/specialist)
car is lightly modded (decat, dawes, induction & i'm thinking of an ECU remap (PE/Link???) in the near future) so no more than 300 bhp ever expected. it already has an AP organic, sti release bearing & lightened flywheel (fitted approx 10k ago).
I havn't spoken to the guy doing it yet (only just left the car at his workshop) so i thought i'd get some advice from here as well
Is it worth replacing the shafts/cogs with UK OEM parts or something else whilst its appart (im looking at cheap options here BTW)
cheers
chris

The later STi 6 box has heavier webs on the box casing and therefore allows less flex under power I guess. Anyway they seem to stand up pretty well. Possum kits and the other offerings are expensive and dog kits are not designed for high road mileage and completely spoil an every day car once the novelty of the transmission noise has gone.
A re-build by a competant builder may be the best option.
