Question

With all the supporting mods and TD05/06 20g turbo at a suggested 1.4 bar boost, do you think the car (98 uk) would get near to the 400hp mark?

Currently on ported standard headers and H+S Up-pipe
Should I be looking for a set of headers eg Gruppe-s or similar?

Cheers

I went for the Gruppe-s option for my car and for value as well as one of the best performers you can't beat them. I already had a H&S slip jointed up-pipe and just ordered the headers. They came with-in a week of ringing up and putting the order through. i got my credit card statement last month and it worked out at £306 delivered to the door payed a further £34 duty to Parcelforce when delivered.

My headers fitted straight on with no problems what so ever, so i think they have now sorted the previous problems

They work well with the TD05/06 and there was no increase in lag either!

Scott

These are the ones I would probbably go for, hopefully they will fit with my Up-pipe, it's a solid one with no joints or flexible bits.

Thanks

I'd also recommend the Gruppe-s headers
It is possible to run 400+ bhp on ported std headers but you'd need more than 1.4 bar boost.

Thanks Everyone,

Looks like I should go for the Gruppe-s ones then, don't fancy the idea of running more than 1.4 bar on my standard engine as I need it to last as long as possible.

Can recommend the Gruppe S from personal experience but suggest you get the up-pipe too for best results and the extre cost is small.
Buy direct from USA.
Last set I fitted, I used a flange spacer, between up-pipe and headers, courtesy of Jonny Gav and this has probably cured the problems with expansion and contraction and then leaking.

iON performance headers I have heard are excellent too.

I personally am going to be running with HKS headers.

The current Ion headers and Gruppe S are almost identical. The original Ion are a bit different. I have experience of all three on several cars and there is little to choose but I would use one of these in preference to HKS and also show a cost saving.
The original Ion are no longer available due to the last mandrel being smashed and a change of design required.
