SUL v UL and Octane Boost

Just doing some maths. I have a UK spec impreza normally running 95ron - but have noticed the performance benefits of SUL
If SUL is 5p/litre dearer than UL, that works out at £3 / 60 litres dearer. Octane Boost works out at approx £2.50 a tank?
I understand that octane boost adds 2 da do rons to the fuel - making UL 97 (aka SUL)
So whats better for the engine or performance? I know that ill get better performance from SUL + Octane - but im saving £.50 a tankfull by using UL + Octane boost!!!
Any recommendations?

When you buy SUL, you know you're getting 97ron. With octane booster, the gains can vary. I can see absolutely no point using it with NUL, it just doesn't make sense (unless you can't get SUL that is).
And as you get better mpg with SUL anyway, and this alone negates the price difference.

has anyone got real proof that you get more mpg running on SUL?
At my local garage (Esso) it is 10p per litre more expensive than NUL so it would have to be quite a hike in mpg to make it worthwile on cost grounds.

It's only 5-6p a litre more near me, also Esso. That equates to about 25p a gallon more which is about £2.75 per fill-up. This equates to approx 2/3 of a gallon, and I get at least 20 miles more to a tank with SUL, which is what my car does mpg wise. Not conclusive proof perhaps, but add that to the smoother running, increased power and larger safety margin and it's good enough for me.

James, Millers only treats 50L, so if SUL is 5p a litre more then NUL plus Octane booster costs the same as Super on it's own for the same 50 litres. I'd only use NUL + booster if I couldn't get SUL, otherwise as I'd go for SUL every time.

All my Local Esso's have NUL for 74.9p per litre and SUL for 86.9p per litre. I bought a box of 10 Millers Octane Booster for £22.95
So 50L of NUL costs £37.45 + £2-95 (booster)
and 50 L of SUL costs £43.45
