Who will fit an exhaust
#1
Has anybody used or can recommend a tyre / exhaust fitting co. in hertfordshire (nr Stevenage) that would fit a system that I supply (secondhand from the bbs).
Obviously there are some I wouldn't let near my car anyway, like "you can't quicker than a ..." but would like to know if people have had problems finding a place to do it.
I have been recommended to a certain place in Northampton so may end up there anyway.
My local subaru dealer reckoned about an hour thus £50!
Any suggestions welcome...

Is it a full system including downpipe?
If so it can be a complete b*tch to get off. Roger Clarke had to cut a bolt off and it took nearly three hours to change a complete system.
However... they did a spot on job. I would seriously think about taking it to a specialist as they will do a spot-on job, I'd dread to think what the YTS kid at Halfords or wherever would do!
ta,
Matt.

I took my scooby to Jack's Hill Motors in Graveley (just outside Stevenage). They did a great job. If you use them, tell them to order the bolts and gasget set BEFORE you drop the car off. It took a day for the parts to arrive and scoob was off the road for almost two days due to their lack of for thought. They wont make the same mistake twice and only charged me £80 all in.
Mail me if you need any other info.
PS
Stevenage is a dump dont ya think?

Zippo, agree with your comments on Stevenage - too many Novas for my liking!
Quite funny to see them hanging aroung the leisure park staring as you drive by. Probably attract a bit more gaze once the Magnex is on
Couple of nice scoobs though.

They identified several other problems (loose nuts, warn pipes etc) whilst the car was up on the ramps. I guess they did not have to look around the rest of the underside of the car as there priority was just the manifold. Had these things not been sorted out, Scoob could have been spilling its guts as two of the six big nuts that hold the gearbox on had come loose and were turning quite easily. They replaced all of the worn pipes/nuts/bolts for next to nothing (£15 approx)
