My Scoobysport down pipe and mid section turned up today, less than 24hrs after ordering them - cheers guys.

I'm having it fitted by a local garage who used to service my old car. Whilst I've got every confidence in their abilities, I just thought I'd check if anyone knew of any particular points I should tell them about before they fit it on Thursday.

Cheers,

Matt

Hope this helps.

The nuts holding the downpipe to the turbo were a nightmare when I changed mine (DBM MY99 6000 miles). Had to takea gentle oxy/acetylene torch to warm them before removing.

Regards,

James

Tell them to go to Halfords and buy a 10mm and a 14mm ratchet spanner, you won't get a socket in there and you only have a few degrees of play in the tighter spaces.

Don't try and teach your Grandmother to suck eggs !!
They were probably changing exhaust pipes when your mother was changinging your nappy.
Regards,
Hamish.
P.S. Oxy Act is is a great way to burn a workshop and a car down, I'd prefer to put new studs in !!

Try WD40. I have it used on my MY98 with 27000km. Don`t be panic form white smoke after first starting engine. It`s only rest of WD40.

Aero is dead right.

Halford or Sealey rachet spanners are the only tool we will use on these nuts. The Sealey ones are better, as they are 6 flat, not 12.

Hamish,

The use of oxy/acet is perfectly safe if you are experienced enough and have the right set up. My studs/nuts would have sheared had they not been warmed first with a gentle heating from the lamp.

I would agree that it is dangerous if you do not know what you are doing and have the fitting skills of a crab in handcuffs

James.

Cool

All fitted now. From what they said the bolts on the turbo were the trickiest bit. It sounds absolutely brilliant, and makes a definite difference to the pick up and torque.

One final question, after fitting it, the garage was unable to refit a heat shield which was over the top of the old down pipe - usual I assume? Any feedback?

All in all though - top purchase, thanks scoobysport.

Exclamation

The heatshield needs a lump taking out of it to clear the new DP - ask Pete Croney - he's done this about 3000 times......

Matt, we cut the heatshield from the top of the arch, across to the right hand side at an angle that allows the rear fixing to be kept and then straight down the corner to the bottom.

It then fits perfectly.
