Hiya!

Since torque is the key thing, I'd go for a Scoobysport one, since it's 2.5" from the mid and back. Scoobymania's is 3" all the way.

In theory 2.5 should be more torqey down low, and be more driveable.
Any decatted system will give U pops and flames.

Scoobymania's DP (the only bit I've seen myself) is a piece of art tho. And it's VERY good value for money.

..but...IMHO the Scoobysport exhaust has the perfect aural properties, sounds lovely when dropping down to 3rd and flooring it - those 3" systems doesn't have the edge, they're way too boomy for my taste.

hiya,

thanks for the reply... I too have seen the scoobymania downpipe and agree that it is lovely. I am still not sure what to do tho! Your points about drivability make sense, I was hoping to have a real listen to them at Donnington yesterday if it wasn't for snow and ice...

Matt

I have the full Scoobymania system fitted to my Type R.

I see that you are in the Coventry area, so we are not a million miles away,as iam Tamworth side.

If you fancy having a listen to mine mail me a contact number, we could arrange to meet up after work next week.

Hope this is of help to you.

If I were in yer pants I'd go for an SS downpipe, and leave the Magnex stuff on.

Have U done anything to the other side...any induction mods? It's almost equally important as the exhaust side.

I've had a Pipercross induction kit on my MY00 GT for half a year now (and Ian U hippie, it's oiled ), with no problems - as have 3 of my mates.

Along with an SS DP, back to stock midsection again - got a letter from the landlord neighbours didn't approve of rally cars at 6.30 in the morning - and an SS BB.
The DP and the induction kit made the biggest improvements (IMHO), it was snappy with the DP, got even better with the cone.
I honestly felt no difference with the straight through mid, or the stock catted one. That one seems to be for noise only.

Regards

Ah, Jerry, the man who likes to think about being in other mens pants.

Seriously, i would agree with all Jerry said bar one point. On my UKMY99 when running the PPP i changed each section of the exhaust in isolation with rest of the spec held constant. When i changed the STi centre for the Magnex resonated centre, i definetely noticed a difference.

hi,

I have embarked upon a substantial upgrade program and want to get a decent exhaust prior to the Link ECU (possibly!)

The car currently has a Magnex centre section and a Magnex tailpipe but I am thinking of changing it to either ScoobySport full system or ScoobyMania full system.

I know lots of you will have scoobysport systems but has anyone tried the scoobymania system?

Oh, I am primarily after an increase in torque, pops and bangs and the odd flame

Also, what about an air filter? Should I stick an ITG panel filter on or go for an induction kit, I had a Blitz but didn't like it at all!

Matt

We leave home in our two full SS system cars at 6am - luckily the neighbours are deaf (or they are now )

hi chaps,

thanks for the comments... I wouldn't mind hearing some other systems, that's what I wanted to go to Donnington for! grrrr

Anyway, last time I was at Donnington some scoobs sound 'deep and rumble' whereas others sound 'raspy', do you know which cars have which exhausts? daft question eh

It didn't occur to me to keep the magnex stuff on, if I go for the Scoobymania exhaust that will have to go anyway due to 3" bore...

ta,
Matt

There's nuffink wrong with your magnex stuff, prolly equal to Scoobysport stuff performance wise. Get a decatted freeflowing downpipe and you're set.

And the Scoobymania fits regular 2.5" midpipes, a mate of mine has one with a stock midpipe.

If torque and midrange is your cup'o'tea - go for the Scoobysport one - otherwise one of the 3" ones for high rev performance.

The bigger the bore - the deeper the rumble.

Unlike Sunlips here, big and round - with the voice of a 12 year old soprano.

Question

Can anyone tell me if the SS DP goes gradually down from 3" to 2.5" in the DP so it minimises turbulence, or is the DP 3" then suddenly goes to 2.5" at the connection to the CP ?
As this is the next mod, at present I like the idea of a uniform 2.5" DP (Falklands + any one elses ?) mating to a 2.5" CP.
But I like the quality/engineering etc of the SS stuff.
Cheers,
Stan

Question

Guys,

If you were to go for a straight through replacment system, which cat do you need to refitt to the car for MOT time, or do you need to put both back?

Stan

It is a gradual transition from 3" to 2.5"
