Engine Cutting Out
Hi,
Can anyone suggest anything, I have a MY00 standard apart from a scoobysport backbox and an JR filter, when I stop for a junction the engine will stall 9 times out of 10, on the other occasion it just about manages to keep running, when I start it back up its fine until I slow down again, and it idles without a problem normally
Any Ideas
Cheers Daz

My oxygen sensor and knock sensor were playing up on idle and so the revs would constantly raise and fall as the ecu tried to make sense of all the faulty readings.
The result was the revs would sometimes just drop to 0 and it would stall.
Replaced the above (less than a hundred quid I think) and its been fine since.

I have the same problem on mine.. An ECU reset informed me that the O2 sensor is faulty (code 32).
Where did you find an O2 sensor and MAF sensor for under £100? I thought Subaru were charging around £300 just for the O2 sensor.

£300 should easily buy you a wideband... Lambda should be around £75 from a Subaru dealer (you can get a 'generic' one for around half that from other places but might need to do a bit of re-wiring & also the probe's likely to not last as long).
But... seeming it's a MY99, it's most likely the MAF. The original ones aren't very tough
Try a search on MAF failures (or, actually, just look through the past week or so of threads) & you'll find lots of info, including how to check for MAF failure & the cheapest way of getting hold of a new one
