iridium sparkplugs recommended?

someone has recommended iridium sparkplugs to me. are they worth getting, and what do they do? i dont know much technical stuff, but im trying to learn. i tried searching on bbs, but search doesnt seem to be working. any advice appreciated, thanks!

We meet again!

They are platinum tipped plugs which enables a very small electrode to be used. They can also run a fairly big gap and don't wear out so quickly - good on a Scoob as it is a nightmare to change them.

Anyway, the consequence of the above is that you get a cleaner stronger spark which is a Good Thing.

There have been some experiments to compare these to normal plugs and the general view is that the car will run better, especially at higher levels of boost, with the spark less likely to break down.

The one downside is that they are quite expensive, I got mine for cost and they were still expensive for plugs!

Try searching on 22b.com I think that there were some good posts on there from Bob and Pat on this very subject.
