Anybody any experience on those turbo's? I've got a fairly modded 1995 WRX running 1.2 bar boost at the moment. Currently got the VF22 turbo fitted but would I be better off with the TD05?
Going to be changing the ECU soon and probably going to go for the MoTec system. Any advice greatful

Thanks

Alasdair - the VF22 is notorious for failures, do a search on Scoobynet and you'll find something there about it!

Just done a TD05 F/E conversion and put it on a customers MY99..........the power is AWESOME and, in my opinion, better than a VF22

Also, call Grant at AWD (01738 633336)and ask him what he thinks of the VF22 as he used to run one but got sick of the excessive lag!

Thanks Russell

I have heard they are prone to failure if running high boost. I have been offered a TD05 in exchange for the VF22.

Anyone else got any advise on this?

Grab the TD05!! I run one on the stock I/C and put down the same power as a VF22 with TXS topmount.

VF22 bearing is inherently weak - mine lasted about 2000 miles before it went!!!

If its a Hybrid VF22 it should be ok though - could consider modding the VF22? at Turbo Dynamics?

I think the value is on associated with high boost. I've run a VF22 for many thousand miles @17psi with a hitch. A friend has done the same @19psi (110mph traps). The spool wasn't as bad as some people (who usually have never personally run the turbo) like the believe. I could get 17psi@3400rpms in 4th gear on my MY02 WRX.

I've never run the 16G, so I can't comment on that.
