The heat shield is missing from my 97 WRX, so I bought a second hand one that needs fitting. The downpipe is an aftermarket afair and doesnt seem to have any bolt holes to mount it onto the pipe.

Where shoild it bolt onto? The turbo only? Or onto the downpipe as well.

I cant see the 10 bolt holes mentioned in other threads?

 

There should be a bracket using the top bolts on where the downpipe meets the turbo, your heatshield bolts onto this bracket. but if the person who fitted the downpipe didn't intend to fit the heatshield, he wouldn't have refitted the bracket.

 

Looks like a scrapper then for the bracket!!
