Question

Just fitted my Blitz 550 injectors and dropped the Link Master fuel by 10.. was on the standard 380s previously..
It starts and drives fine.. map will need sorting obviously but it will not tick over properly.. like I have a vacuum leak.. only I cannot find one and it was perfect before I switched the injectors..

I shall check tomorrow in the day light in more detail but I cannot find anything a miss..

Do I need to change something to allow for the injectors?

No leaks around the injectors either..

Clamp is set to 30 as it was before and volts is set to 12. Setting Clamp to 48 enables it to tickover smoothly but I am then in row two..

I don't have a dump valve fitted at the moment so cannot be that..

Tickover is jumping from 700 to 1100rpm continually.

Help please tell me this is not a symptom of a problem with injectors as I don't fancy refitting the 380s and getting the 550s swapped etc..

Play around with clamp, fueling and ignition timing around the idle zones. Took me a while to get mine right!

I just found a copy of someone elses 550 map and noticed a few things were I would say odd.. but different will be the word I will use but voltage correction of 17!!

I'll give it a play around in the day light in the morning and double check everything..

Thanks

The RX-7 550s are not very fast injectors to say the least. I have seen artifacts of one sort or another in the idle corner of the map.

Frank's was a pain to sort.

I think it's inherent with the pintle style injectors, and I will be sourcing new injectors of a different style very soon

They all do that Kind of answer is fine

I shall adjust things to get it the best I can..

Well I have a 900rpm idle now but in row 2.. so will fiddle (with map) to get it is row 1.

Big sigh of relief

JGM - My idle with the same 550's is a little lumpy but nothing to be concerned about, RPM doesn't jump about though. The car has great response and smoothness throughout the Rev range

Don't say that Delboy.. it means I could have a problem..

Mind you I did just realised I didn't use the rubber inserts in the injector cover/holders when I fitted the injectors.. was going to trim them but forgot.. no idea what the little bits on the top do.. would that cause a problem?

Car drove a lot smoother.. just idle like I has rattling and had my foot on the pedal.. lol

Which bit do you mean M8?

Cheers

Do you mean the rubber insert in the actual metal cap which secures the injector to the rail?

The little rubber insert that goes in the cap that goes on the top of the injector to secure it in the rail.

The new injectors being bigger meant that it needed trimming as adviced by Pavlo.. but I removed them all from the caps and forgot to trim and refit them.

The covers that clamp the injector in that are not in you picture.

Wink

As Pavlo was extremely busy at the time I machined my own collars as I was desperate for them(I have access to lathes etc). I removed one fuel rail and pressure tested on the bench at work for leaks using 7bar air pressure and noticed that without those rubber inserts the injector can freely move when pressure is applied. This may or may not be the case with yours as I machined mine maybe to slightly different dimensions but I suppose if able to move this possibly could cause the Fuel pressure to fluctuate. I have just been out in my motor and the idle sits @ 900rpm and doesn't move but is slightly lumpy but this doesn't cause the idle to fluctuate.

Cheers

The injectors shouldn't be going anywhere soon, don't worry.

Sorry I think I added confusion.

I am not worried about them going anywhere.. I know they are not going to come out and very impressed with the adapters by the way Paul.. they make inserting and removing the injectors in the rail much easier and impressed they sealed first time..

My only concern was that I might be clamping on the little metal nipple on the top of the injector.. this is the closes I have got to an injector before so no idea if the nipple on the top does anything?

Cheers
