Silkolene Oil
#1
I would just like to post what a difference having the gearbox oil changed to Silkolene oil has made. Before it was very not crunchy changing from first to second mainly. But since then, it's been very smooth. It does seem to take a couple of days running in, to really make the difference. Some of the better money that I have spent on the car.

Is it a specific type of Silkolene?
I'm looking around for additives etc to make my box (gear) change smoother.....

I will go with one of the oils described below. A friend of mine is also very happy after changing the gear oil. He also changed the differential and transmission oils. He's the one who sent me the texts below and told me to "Pick one... "

75W90 Gear Oil - the preferred product in nearly all car and light
truck differentials, both conventional and limited-slip. 75W90 is
preferred for most racing applications. It contains friction modifier
which is recommended for limited-slip units. 75W90 Gear Oil can be
used in many transmissions and transaxles; however, other Red Line
lubricants have better frictional properties for rapid
synchronization. Exceeds API GL-5.
75W90 NS - a GL-5 which does not contain the friction modifiers for
limited-slip hypoid differentials. This makes the transmission
synchronizers come to equal speeds more quickly, allowing faster
shifting and much easier low-temperature shifting. Can also be used in
racing limited-slip differentials where weak spring design causes too
much wheel spin.
