Error code 22 ?

Got a Check Engine light on my MY98 JDM WRX Wagon.
Error code is for knock sensor. Have searched previous threads and it appears that this is simply the knock sensor going duff, not a problem with knock as such, just the sensor.
So planning on just replacing the sensor. Does anyone know of instances where error code 22 wasn't cured by simply replacing the knock sensor ??
