This had only happened once or twice till yesterday but I had always assumed it was my driving. I was on one of Andy Walsh's driving courses yesterday and found that when driving hard and changing down to second fom either third or fourth, second gear would select ok but when the clutch was released it would pop into neutral, if I physically held it in second whilst releasing the clutch it would stay in. The car was doing this on every down change for both me and Andy whilst driving the circuit. During normal driving today there was no sign of the problem and I have had no troubles or funny noises with the gearbox since I have had the car (MY95 WRX), June this year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

Sounds like Syncro hubs/cones..Allowing the gear to creep out,Could also be the vibrations at the higher revs,Moving the selector outwards......??????
