Cam Belt Change
#1
Can anyone give me details on where to find technical stuff on how to change a cam belt on a Turbo engine? Ie are there any timing marks and how should they be aligned, is there a tensioner and does it need replacing at the same time, is the tensioner automatic or does it need setting up, are any special tools required? I've changed belts on Fords and GM - can I just follow my nose?
Thanks
Graham

Howdy...
No special tools required..but handy if u have them
It is friggin awkward though... you have 5 gears to line up remember...
also, you have the oil pump..water pump...two idlers.. and the tensioner aswell...
The tensioner design varies between model.
The cam wheels and crank do have marks.... mail me if you want the info about the marks... and rotation... and number of teeth...etc...
Subaru do have tools to hold the gears in place.. allowing you to simply to remove and refit a new belt.
I think the belt is a bout 90'ish quid
I have done several now.
