Having already fitted a PPP to a MY03 WRX....

Is it worth remapping the ECU and/or decatting as well ?

What kind of additional performance boost can be expected ?
Does this invalidate warranty ?
Does the engine/drive noise become significantly louder ?

u shud've gone the full decat/ecutek remap route first off and got yourself the full 280 bhp (although u probably already know that by now). doing it now after you've already blown £1600 seems a real waste.

Yes but that would invalidate the warranty me thinks from reading threads on here anything that is not fitted done by prodrive invalidates the warranty

PPP Ecu's seem to be in a bit of demand, why not Px with somebody who wants one and save yourself a bit of cash for a re-map

It's not a replacement ecu like the classic impreza PPP. It is just an Prodrive remap done using Ecutek software of the existing ecu.

PMSL.. re-read what he said.. if he swaps his PPP ecu with someone elses standard one and then gets the standard one remapped.. job done.. lol

Thanks, but apart from the cash bit [too late :-( ]...

Any comment on the original questions ?

Can you get boost beyond prodrive without frightening the neighbours everytime you back out of the driveway (noise) ?

>>Is it worth remapping the ECU and/or decatting as well ?
if you want more power yes.. and of course you want more power. else you wouldn't have asked.

>>What kind of additional performance boost can be expected ?
Depends on how much money you want to spend I guess..
Anything upto 585bhp from the two litre lump after Harveys recent dyno result it would seem..
With just decat and ecu remap to a reasonably high boost you should be looking at 300bhp, although a turbo change may be required, not sure which one is on the MY03.
But you are going to have to buy a Knocklink, a Lambda Link, fuel pump as well as exhaust.

>>Does this invalidate warranty ?
Yes..

>>Does the engine/drive noise become significantly louder ?
decat and other exhaust changes yes, you can get quieter systems but generally to increase flow you get more noise..

jgm - unless I've not been paying attention, no-one has yet got 300bhp by just a decat and an ECUTEK. Typically MY01-03 will give low 280s at Power Engineering (probably only 260ish at powerstation, I guess).

Turbo on MY03 is TD04L, same as on MY01-02 - the 01+ allegeldly holds boost a bit better than the TD04 fitted to classics.

To answer the original question. You might be able to get an ecutek remap a lot cheaper than many people as you have effectively already bought the ecutek license as part of the PPP, and the license is normally a big portion of the costs. This is speculation on my part - I'd suggest it's worth talking to someone like Pat (Scoobysport/Xtreme Scoobies), Bob Rawle etc and they'll be able to give you a definite answer. No harm in asking!

Hades,

My figures was pure guess and biased on no figures gained by other cars.. so your figure sounds a lot more accurate.

Appologies.
