Got a new MAF for my MY00 from a dealer last week and when I got it out of the packaging, it seemed dirtier than one I'd just removed from the car.
The old MAF had 4 pins as does the new one, but I thought I'd read that the older ones had 5 pins - I'm starting to think that my car is a MAF eater!
Running is a little smoother, although idle speed seems quite low, and sounds a little inconsistent.
Would an ECU reset improve things?

Your new MAF should not have been looking dirty at all... i bought one, although the wrong one, it was looking brand new...
Yes an ecu reset would help as it re-trains the ecu to work with the new MAF but if your MAF was dirty when you got it maybe its been used? and maybe not as healthy as a new MAF just a thought i could be wrong

New MAF was bought from Stan Palmer's last week, I couldn't tell the new and old one apart, except the new one had white writing on it.
Car due in for a service tomorrow, will ask them to have a look at it and reset ECU while they're at it.
