Oil capacities + ZX1?
#1
Hi all,
Does any one have to hand the oil capacities
for an STi, for the engine(sump), gearbox and diff.
The 30k service is due and I was considering using Mobil 1 Motorsport throughout perhaps
using ZX1 aswell - any comments?
I was wondering what the consensus of opinion was regarding oils for the Imprezas and the most commonly used product(s).
Thanks in advance
Howie

The engine oil capacity in an STi II is about 4.5 litres, however it is usually a good idea not to fill it all the way up (about 3/4 way between the empty and full readings on the dipstick).
The gearbox... err, I think it's about 3 litres. You'll need 3 litres, it's more than 2 IIRC. The rear diff only requires one litre of fluid.
If you want the best, give Pete a call @ Scoobysport and grab some of that lovely Silkolene oil that he stocks. IIRC, you'll need one 4 litre canister of Pro-S, one 1 litre bottle of Pro-S, three one litre bottles of SynTran5 and one one litre bottle of BOA....
Hope this helps,
Pat.

Moray, (do you have an sti3?)
What are you using in your engine? I've had various opinions from (Mobil1 Motorsport - PE) to Shell Helix Ultra (DP Motorsport), to Semi Synth 10w/30 as recommended by prodrive (C+K)
Generally I've used Mobil1 or Esso Ultron in the past on my VW's, but for scoobs I want to bottom the best being a Turbo and running at higher oil temps. Silkolene seems to be favourite amongst scooby owners so far! (Would Scoobysport have anything to do with that I wonder!) ;-)
