Error codes 14,15,16 & 17 on 94 WRX
#1
Hi
I got my new chip fitted today and have just re-installed the ECU in the car.
The "Check Engine" light comes on and when I connect the black diagnostic connectors under the dash, I get the error codes 14,15,16 and 17.
Does anyone know what these mean ?
I have looked at Glenn's site (

Think those error codes all relate to your fuel injectors or injector cct.(4 codes, 4 injectors) If the chip is spliced into the injector cct somehow then the ecu will have decided that there is a problem during its start up diagnostic checks.

Thanks for the reply Bob.
Can anyone confirm that it is definitely the injectors / circuit ?
I started the car and it seems to be idling correctly and the cold start seems OK - does the ECU ignore the errors beyond startup ?
I have not driven the car at all (with the new program running) - am I being overly cautious ?
Is there a more comprehensive list of error codes posted on the web anywhere ?
Thanks
Gavin

Judging by the fact that refiting the jumper and causing the ECU to run of the internal OTP ROM, I would say that the problem lies with the ROM... it could be to do with CRC errors in the new ROM.... sometimes the maps are changed without updating the CRC and the ECU detects this and thinks "err, my ROM has some erros!" Quite why it should be reporting this as an injector problem is a different issue entirely!

Pat,
Thanks for the info - I didn't realise that the ECU used CRC checking.
I would be very surprised if the ROM is the problem as the supplier has a very good reputation.
One of the pins got damaged in transit (despite copious amounts of bubblewrap) and was replaced and tested by a local electronics engineer - I wanted to try to eliminate this as a potential cause.
I have contacted the supplier who is dealing with my e-mail with some urgency - so I'll keep you posted.
Thanks
Gavin
