More Power
Bit of a contradition here..you want to keep costs down (ah the joys of a nagging wife - got one of those too!) then plump for the prodrive kit tut tut.
Without serious mods on a '99 car the tuning is limited to allowing the car to breathe via decent intake and exhaust systems, then remapping the ECU to take advantage of those mods.
Had you not have had the prodrive kit I would have advised a programmable ECU and remap, however since you have now done the deed its a bit late in the day. So induction/exhaust are the only options left.
Obviously fitting a decatted downpipe or complete exhaust system carries warranty niggles, this is where the prodrive conversion appeals since the warranty is unaffected.
Do not be led into believing that a dump valve "mod" will do anything..the standard '99 valve is of large capacity and doesnt need changing. Plus any dump-to-atmosphere valves "open" the system which is not the way it is designed to work.
As has been pointed out, brakes and handling mods are the way to go for track use. Your car will be very quick in its current configuration and any further go-faster mods are of diminished returns ie you'll spend a fortune and knock off 10ths of seconds.
Enjoy driving one of the best cars ever..

Having recently bought a new 99 impreza from my local subaru dealer i decided to send it to Prodrive for their engine upgrade.
On return i was very impressed with the extra power , but now some 2 mths later , im looking for extra.
Fitted a HKS Super power flow induction kit the other day .
What is the best next route to take? (trying to keep budget low due to nagging wife.)
Any info anybody could supply would be of great help
MANY THANKS

Some people have said that the Prodrive back box is a bit restrictive so you might want to change that to a free-er flowing item.
Adding better suspension and brakes will enable you to extract more or what power you already have and attending a driving school will too.
I would strongly suggest you buy a flowed downpipe (Scoobysport etc) to make the turbo spin up quicker.
How did you get on with the HKS Induction Kit?...as i have a UK MY99 with Prodrive Engine Pack and Scoobysport Downpipe and would be interested to hear your comments.
Regards
Sunil
UK MY99, Prodrive Pack, SS Downpipe, Brembo Brakes, No Driving Tuition ever had

tHANKS FOR THE REPLY SUNILIP. I WILL DEFINATELY TRY THE MODS YOU MENTION.
AS FOR THE INDUCTION KIT I AM PROBABLY A LITTLE BIT DISAPOINTED AS I HAVE NOT REALY NOTICED ANY POWER GAINS AS SUCH. THIS IS PROBABLY DUE TO MY SEVERE HANGOVER DURING THE LAST WEEK.
THE NOISE LEVELS HAVE DEFINATELY CHANGED THOUGH. LOTS OF TURBO WHOOSH AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT FITTED A AFTERMARKET DUMPVALVE I CAN NOW HEAR THE STD ONE EXPELLING AIR ON GEARCHANGE.
