Over boost G/bad?
#1
I had my Impreza tested, and tuned on a rolling road, the results showed everything looked good, only one problem showed itself
the boost pressure was reading 1 bar.
will this harm my engine?
my compression on each cylinder
are cyl
1 100
3 98
4 100
2 90
is this good for a car thats done 97000 miles.
the hp is 225,is it worth getting it chipped so it wouldn't be over boosted, any comments on how good the superchip is on the impreza would be appreciated
one more concern is the check engine light comes on intermittently,it might not come on for 2 to 3 days is this because of a misfire, ore the overboost, incidentally im not giving it big licks when the warning appears

Eddie,
I would suggest as a first step to do a search of the BBS for the following terms:
Superchip
Error code
(The Search facility is below the "Post Reply" button)
The boost pressure varies depending on the year of your car (as the size of the turbo changes). A 94-96 car typically has 12-14psi (1 bar = 14.7psi) and the ECU cuts the fuel as a safety feature at 15.5psi. Later cars tend to be slightly higher.
As your car is running 1 bar (14.7psi) this is not high enough to worry about. Incidentally, the Superchip will increase the boost significantly to 17psi + and does not have a good reputation on this BBS - it removes the fuel cut safety feature.
Where did you take your car to put it on the dyno ? If they are a specialist, they would have reported any problems (I would hope!)
What is more important is the Error light flashing. Once you have searched out the archived posts on the error code, it is worth posting the number given on the BBS and other members will be able to tell you what the error means.
I hope this helps you,
Thanks
Gavin
P.S. Another good link to try is
