Exhaust for Sti type r
#1
Me again,
Ive just collected my sti type r 1997 555 edition and it still has the original sti exhaust on it from the factory!!
Its way to quite for my liking so i am after some advice on what exhaust to get.
Ive heard a few stories on peoples views on what type of front downpipe to get.
I want a nice rally style sound but still legal for track days, so whats available guys?
Adrian
ps. ive just been given a scorpion back box, thangs peggy

my sti type r came with an APEXI N1 system

not as loud or raspy as WRC but still sounds great, i think RC Developments sell em, you can also buy the Apexi Super Silencer for it if its too loud!

I got a version 5 type r.
It came with the standard sti back-box and hence no noise.
A blitz Nur Spec R (i got mine for £380 from sheffield but they retail for 4-500 quid) delivers a throaty rumble.
The scoobysport downpipe (£235) puts the icing on the cake. I can be heard from 3 miles away. It delivers an unbelievable roar when you put your foot down in any gear.
Anyone sitting behind you will be deafened. Not the cheap tinny sound that comes from a tarted up nova with a peco backbox.
But a full on hardcore blast of type r noise.
A type R deserves the best!!

cashy, i had a BLITZ on my old scooby, system was 550 and 200 for a TSL downpipe, i sold it cos got fed up with it and didnt want it on my new scoob, they more for show and noise and not used by serious tuners.

get a knocklink and boost gauge before you do anything IMO.
at least then you will see what boost you are running before and after the system swap. also if it dets as standard , you then could see if octane booster stops it. the last thing to do is throw a system on it.
