I am looking to having one fitted to my UK my94, with a view to getting the turbo to spin up quicker and giving me peak torque lower down the rev range. Anyone with any experience of this part fitted, who would like to pass any comments would be greatly appreciated.
I believe the UK car has 2 cats? Has anyone passed an emissions test with 1 of the cats removed? Or is it a case of refitting at MOT time?
Also interested on views on increased noise in the cabin after having the downpipe fitted.

BPM utlise one cat since the first few of the exhaust is the most crucial. We then place the cat straight after the donwpipe since the gases are still hot thus allowing the cat to benefit. We pass MOT tests with this design and extract excellent power figures.
Sti downpipe now available with dyno chart figures upon request.

I have read a recent post that tells of a car (another Mike, I seem to recall) that managed to pass emmisions testing at an MOT station without any cats. Try searching for cat or de-cat/decat subjects.

Hi Mark,

It was me, and a more recent (accurate?) test showed a failure on CO emission at idle. 0.5% is the MoT limit, and my car showed 0.8%. Dunno what the fast idle value was, but it would need to be 0.3% to pass. It passed on hydrocarbon emissions though (115ppm out of 200ppm maximum allowed).

Not that bad as news goes! The question was about mot with centre cat in place, so if
Mike's car managed to get that close to passing without any cat, it bodes well for a car with only the centre cat, assuming the ecu is correctly setup for a cat system.

I recently had a Scoobysport downpipe fitted (MY98) and as a matter of interest the mechanic put my car on the gas analyser to see how it compared with MOT requirements - it passed with the centre cat still in place.

Thanks for all your replies . Seems like the centre cat may be sufficient. When my car was MOT'd, the tester was amazed at how quick acting and clean the cat was on my car, and thats 5 years old! hopefully one will be enough! I hear scoobysport have or are working on a downpipe where the cat can be replaced at MOT time ?
