Question

Is there a way of safely cleaning the green mushroom foam filter on my HKS induction kit, or is it a throw away and replace jobbie??

I have driven 5K miles since fitting it and it seems quite dirty. I think the replacement element is £18 + VAT.

It should surely last longer than 5k miles before a clean?
My K&N requires cleaning approx every 30-40k miles!!!!!
Yours may look dirty, but apparently this 'aids' the filtering process, or so my leaflet says! Mine's cotton though, so foam may be different.

Stef.

Cool

Hi...

You arent meant to clean them... they are disposable....

HKS filters get dirty faster than any other filter I know!!!

You could try warm soapy water.. they have plenty of oil in them... if you are concerned you could try oil filter cleaner..and try re-oiling...but I wouldnt suggest it....

Dont worry if it doesnt seem to fit after washing it... it kinda shrinks back into the mesh.

J.

ps - Watch out for the mesh.. the edges are bloody sharp
