Can anyone give me some advice?

Im looking at fitting an aftermarket Dump Valve to my 93MY WRX. Which is the best type to go for ? Bailey, Evo, or the pricey Jap ones?

Also sound is a consideration, I dont want something which sounds ridiculous..... A "flutter" I can put up with, constant "whoosh" I cant!.

Is there any chance of losing performance with spool up times etc over the OE valve or is it the opposite??

Thanks, Richie.

Richie,
Got bugger all info for you mate.
Just thought I'd tag my message onto your's, as I too am looking to change my dump valve. Although my car is a MY97 UK Scoobie.

Hope you don't mind.

Cheers
Chris

You say that sound is a consideration. There is no other reason for getting a dump valve.

Do not get one that vents to atmosphere as you will affect the air flow meter and whilst not a major problem, you will confuse the ECU to run lean or rich depending on where you put it.

Most people want to recreate the chatter of the Racing Sierra Cosworths and don't realise that the wastegate made the sound and not the dump valve.

I won't recommend a make for you Richie.

Kind regards

Ben

Richie,

You will only notice a difference in performance, if your current D/V is faulty (leaking etc').

Ben is correct about the dump to atmosphere D/V's, although some cars seem to get away with it ( mine didn't).

I'm not certain which type of D/V you currently have on your car.Is it the small type, or the larger one located below, and to the left of the intercooler. If it is the larger type, I would highly recomend the Forge motor sport recirculating valve. It cost more than the dump to atmosphere D/V's, but you don't need a fitting kit,and you can fit it in 5mins.

If you still want more noise, fit an induction kit.You can hear it dumping through the filter.

Mark.

Bennie.

That explains the new "hissing and dumping" noise I've got since fitting the Scoobysport downpipe! Thanks!

Why don't you try fitting the dump valve from the Version5?
It's much improved over the older versions.
You have to mod it a little though.

Cedric,

You would have to modify it a lot to fit it to an earlier engine, if it could be done. Look at the differences, for a start it is mounted onto the intercooler, not attached with hoses as before. Look elswhere.

I have a MY93 WRX.
I also have a HKS bov. I`ve had no problems at all with it.
I heard all the problems you can get but took the risk(Expensive, but hey)
Very nice it is too. You can make all sorts of noises with it.
