Clutch change in Surrey/Hants area?
#1
Has anyone got any recommendations for somewhere to get the clutch on my 98 Sport changed? Proven in Haslemere have quoted £850ish (including flywheel mind) but this seems rather excessive?
Also, is it better sticking with the OE clutch or getting one less likely to judder (AP Organic?)?
Thanks in advance...

Hi mate. £850!!! R U sure. local scoob dealer quoted me less than that and that was including flywheel too. Mines booked in tomorrow at Thames motor sport. Costing £350. This was recommended on this thread some time ago. The guys name is Colin mob:07774 767874. Give him a try

The subaru clutch is £350 on its own.
You can still do cheaper than £850 though mate

Anyone know of somewhere a bit closer to Haslemere/Guildford area? The others are a bit of a trek...

I can't believe people are still willing to pay this for a clutch on an "older" car.
It now only costs £90(ish) for a standard Impreza turbo clutch kit from Autospares. (No connection with them - just use them all the time, and I get good service...)
When I had my MY96 clutch changed just over a year ago now...
I then paid my extremely capable local mechanic £100 (cash) to fit the clutch. (No flywheel work needed fortunately) The new clutch is much less juddery than the old one.
So, £200 or up to £1000+ for the same quality parts to be fitted... I know what I'm doing with the £800 I didn't have to spend ...
(I ended up spending it on the house )
