I was just wondering if there is any way of working out the flywheel figure if you know the wheels figure?

Obviously, a rolling road can measure the power the wheels is putting onto the rollers, but how is the flywheel figure determined?

My mate has just had his Cosworth rolling roaded and the figure was 200bhp at the wheels.

Is there some kind of formula to work out the more common bhp @ flywheel?

I was thinking about getting mine on a power run, but they will only give me the wheels figure.

I appreciate that this figure is more accurate in terms of real performance as this is the actual power the car is putting down, but for comparison purposes we all use flywheel figures.

Anyone shed any light?

Cheers

ok, its as clear as mud now!

So, is there a standard variable that can be multiplied with "at the wheels" figure to get an estimate of the flywheels figure?

Is it roughly +33% or is this not a reliable rule?
