CHECK ENGINE LIGHT + MISFIRE ?
#1
Hi folks,
Looking for a bit of re-assurance and a bit of advice here regarding a problem i had last night with my Impreza Sti 5.
I just got the car out of the garage and half way up my street when i noticed the "Check Engine" light was still on and the car was not running properly, almost like it was on 3 cylinders. I switched of the ignition and started the car again, the problem was still there. I drove it back into my garage and left it for half an hour, tryed it again and the fault had disappeared.
Can anyone tell me what this might of been, should i take it to the subaru dealer to have a diagnostic check?
The only mods to the car are a scoobysport exhaust (from Cat back) and an induction kit, which have both been on the car for about 8-9 months.
Any advice welcome,
Cheers Kevin.

Many thanks steve.
Done the check and have fault codes 24 and 44 standing, these are "Idle air control solenoid" and "Wastegate control solenoid valve".
Would these be standing faults or just in the history ? I am now tempted to try an ECU reset using their instructions.
Cheers, Kevin.

It may be worth cleaning the solenoid pipes before a reset - that may be one of your problems. There are instructions on here if you do a search, as it's not quite as simple as blowing through it

Removed all pipes on wastegate solenoid valve, these were all clean and not blocked.
Removed idle speed valve and cleaned/lubricated. This was found to be a bit fouled and not moving as freely as it should be. now ok.
Carried out reset of ECU.
All faults cleared.
Monitoring for further problems, fingers crossed that is the end of it.
Cheers for the help.
