Question

I've hit it twice in the last 2 days (at least I hope thats what it is (engine loses all power for a second at peak boost, then comes back))

How many people with increased boost have removed FC and HOW ?

(My AFR and knocklink show all OK, so seems a shame to turn it down )

Cool

Went through all this game 2 years ago. My STi V3 boosted to 1.6 bar! God, sure went well, but fuel cut was evil.
Fixed it all at Power Eng with a Blitz boost controller, now run at 1.3 bar/314 bhp and all is well.

It's the cold weather thats allowing the car to run more boost!
Great fun until you hit the cut limit

StickyMicky,

The car has to stay over the boost limit for a few seconds, I think it's 5 seconds, for the fuel cut to engage.

Cheers,

George.

It's the effects you feel after the ECU cuts out the fuel due to too much boost. Feels like sudden braking, even though your foot's still on the gas peddle.

Cheers,

George.

Sorry for hijacking your thread mark!
As I am running standard boost is the soloution a fuel cut defencer or a boost controller (to enable a controlled rise and eliminate spiking) or both?

If you're running standard boost and you keep hitting the fuel cut, there is a problem. Your boost solenoid and pipes are probably contaminated with oil, (from even slightly overfilling the engine with oil), and need cleaning to rectify the problem.

Cheers,

George.

Kept happening to me (Sti Version 3) - just had Dawes fitted to control boost spikes - works a treat now (peaking as standard with de-cat at around 1.1/1.2 bar).
Was dubious about Dawes but to stop spikes it is perfect.

Paul , Not sure about any 'bang'

Is this a physical noise, or just and expression ?

Red face

I took it as an expression. You know, bang on the brakes.
