I've some sort of (oil?) leak causing an occasional smokey smell from my motor under the bonnet
I first noticed it a couple of weeks ago, when I fitted my kL and dawes, but I think its got more to do with the length of time the car stood - it rarely stays still for more than a day, but I didn't use it for 36 hours that weekend. Yesterday it stood, whilst I fetched a new tyre from Chester, so I noticed the smell again this morning - It goes after a while, so I think maybe a spot of oil per 24 hours or something.....
The oil level is fine and theres no oil on the drive, but I'd like to sort it - The only time that theres actually been smoke, it was coming from down by the D/p , wing side of it, near the bottom....
I went along to the local meet today and it looks like it may be the rocker cover, dripping onto the exhaust - I'm booked in at TSL next Sat for a service, so I'll ask them to take a look - BUT
If it is the cover, how easy is it to change, or should I be looking to get TSL to do it ?
Cheers,
Mark

I just bought all the bits to do my rocker cover gasket too..
Haven't got around to changing it yet.
I don;t think it is particularly hard to change it just need to make sure it doesn't leak.. so to a certain extent it would be better to let TSL do it.. I have got obsessed with not letting a mechanic touch my car and will change it myself.
the Parts required and other info here
