Thumbs up

Just had an 'update'

A certain 2.0 car 'pegged' the rollers at their max capacity (550bhp)and 'purple screened' the rollers display due to the overload

Apparently this has only happened once before with a high spec Skyline Not bad considering some of the countrys quickest Cossies and EVO's have run there !

Andy

Oh, and none of the promised 2.3/2.5 boys showed up.....yet again
Ah well, at least they have an excuse now for not going to WL7, 8, 9 etc The rollers would never cope, would they

don't know why they bother putting their names down if they have no intention of turning up.

If I remember Harvey's torque figure was 417ft/lb

BTW Many thanks to Harvey for the time you spent in my car I now get 1.0bar of boost at 3,000rpm I couldn't believe when I tried it, It used to be around 4,000rpm.

Also thanks to Johnny Gav for his kind offer of the use of the Commander. I'll make a date with Andy and contact you.

You will need to wait a while for that, the next engine is a 2.0 too.......and why not Having said that, I can tell you that RCM do have a 2.5 in the pipeline for a certain scoob north o' the border

Harvey/Andy,

Very impressive. What accounts for the 32bhp increase over last time ? More boost, remap, ?

1.85 bar all the way from somewhere around 4k to the red line set at 8k.
"Still a reliable daily driver?"
Well I think so as far as I know but if I find out different I will let you know.
I am looking for another gearbox. Not because I need one now but because I will need one in the future.

impressive result harvey 533 bhp @ 6923 rpm and 419 ft/lbs torque.

still, I have a whole 1 more pound of torque more than you, even though you do have an impressive 73bhp more

I must bring my beast over for another dyno run, and show you how it is done!

Will keep you informed when I do, be good to catch up.

Awesome result Harvey!

Had to see it to believe it. The car was trying to pull itself out of the rollers with 4 guys on board!

Well done too to Jonny Gav, 372 on a 90 degree inlet is very impressive.

Good result too for P20SPD, keeps getting better at every event.

And Steve Mid did well too after replacing a blown MAF, 349bhp on the OEM ECU!!!

Full results will be posted in northern later today.

Cheers

Rich

Well done all..

Jonny is it a td06 with a 90 deg bend on it or is it a cast 90deg?

is it that td06 with a bend idea andy mentioned..

Either way, it beat my record for 90deg..

Yes David, it's the same turbo as I run on my car but fed via a 90 degree bend, as you know, this saves the hassle of moving the steering tank/fuel lines and lifting the manifold on the early cars.

I had considered it would compromise the power output and had recommended that Jonny went with straight entry.
When he arrived the other week for mapping with the 90 degree inlet I honestly didn't expect too much from it. It was soon clear from the airflow on the Apexi Power FC Commander that it was not going to be the disadvantage I had thought it may be !!

Although there was a boost control issue on the rollers (nothing new there) and it was only running 1.25 bar on the day. On the road it is mapped for 1.35 bar on std Optimax where the 550's are over 90% IDC.
I think we will be seeing 400 bhp from this one soon

Zippy,

harveys car is still 2.0 as I believe this is the same engine.

the new engine is also 2.0 anyway.

Excellent achievement!

are people forgetting thats still on an open deck block!!!

makes me feel easier about running high power, still not convinced about running higher torque than harvey.

Nice one andy..

90% on 550s to you should be over 500bhp..

Question is.. why's andy not up with harvey in the power figures

Come on andy.. yours is a cdb.. more boost

harvey what did you change to find the extra power..

Would be nice to see a overlay off all past graphs detailing changes.. mail me offline if you prefer.

David

At one point I saw 680bhp on the Well Lane rollers for Harvey's car- and then the cars bhp went down - dont know what all that was about? is this what hitting the 550bhp maximum means!!!

Barry said something about it being a safety device when the rollers are being oversped.

It happens at around 130mph or so.

A brake comes on and the display goes purple. At that point, the graph suddenly went vertical, hence the 680bhp.

By removing the sudden spike they were able to read off the bhp at the point where the brake came on, ie 533bhp.

The run before it had done 511 and had been rising every run up til then too.

First full power run was about 484 or something, but think the fan was angled too far down, so the airflow wasn't good enough.

The fan was reangled and 511 was the next run, I think.

Cheers

Rich

For my next run I specifically volunteer that Johny Gav sprays co2 on my front mount in excessive quantities - got to have a level playing field!!!

Amazing stuff - gives about a 50bhp gain!!
