Is it necessary to wet the wrapping prior to fitting?

Its the Cool It - Thermo-Tec stuff.

Thanks in advance

I soaked mine before applying it and all it does is gets you wet when wrapping.

Thats not actually true, it shrinks a little when it dries so it is a tighter fit around the pipes.

If you wet it too, you dont suffer from fibreglass splinters either.

Chucked mine in a bucket of water then pulled it out as I wrapped it. As mentioned above I think this allows it to shrink when it gets hot and also keep the fibreglass dust to a minimum.

Agree.. chucked mine in a bucket..

Also found it is easier to get it even if you place the end of the downpipe on something and turn the downpipe.. rather than putting the wrap around the pipe.. just what I found anyways.
