FMIC on standard Impreza
#1
Hello folks,
I've got a question.
A friend of mine has an intercooler of a Golf Rally G60.
Maybe I want to try this intercooler to mount it as a FMIC on my almost standard Impreza(MY99)with a ScoobySport downpipe and backbox. The boost I now have is: 1bar at peak, 0,8 constant.
The size of the intercooler is approx.: 85x40x4cm
Regarding this I have a few questions:
1) What can I expect if I mount this one as FMIC?
2) What has to be done to get this thing fitted?
I would like to hear from you guys, what I can expect(both positive and negative expectations welcome) and what you advice to adjust.
With a full Scoobysport exhaust, I already had 230Hp and 320Nm.
Hope to hear sooon from you.

Hello Hans.
Also visiting our overseas neighbours I see.
Scoobynet is a very big Scoobaru-info-point,the English are complete bunkers.
I still think a FMIC doesn't bring you more feelable power/torque But it will bring an increase of turbolag, which is feelable, because of the longer/bigger airduct.Standard that is.(TD04)
When you however decide to get yourself a bigger turbo, and go and tune your engine in time,it will give a real advantage.

My understanding of it is that you'll very likely loose on road performance because the wee turbo just can't support a front mount and all the associated piping.

My MY00 with fmic was well laggy with the TD04 and completely lost the turbo kick, but with the TD05 I now have its got the kick back big time and it just pulls all the way to the redline.
So an fmic really needs a bigger turbo and remap to make it a worth while mod. But when you have both of those it makes a big difference but as I have found out you need and new pump & reg plus new clutch etc........ and the list goes on and on until you have no money left!!!!

Chrome, just checked your site and you have a car with virtually the same spec except for the turbo. Have you fitted the fmic yet? any probs.
