Help, the boost soleniod on my 95wrx keeps blocking up after cleaning, so for a couple of days my car flys then the damn think blocks up again and knocks the boost back down [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]

The simple solution would be to replace it, but i've been advised that they're about £150 with seem alot for a little widget.

I was at a local sepecialist today (not Subaru) looking at a wiring diagram for a HKS boost controler into an EJ20 and it looks like it bypasses the boost soleniod, if that's the case i'll get one and through the old soleniod away with pleasure

Or does anyone know where i can get a reasonably priced boost soleniod?

if it's blocking up regulaly, then its probably excess oil in the breathing sysyem. this can happen, and most people put a oil catch can in to stop it.

could be a bit of excess oil from the turbo ? is there any in the intercooler pipes ?

uh huh...could just be your oil was overfilled a bit and clogging the solenoid.

Agree with steve, it is best to fill the oil to about 3/4 rather than to the full mark. I have known a few Scoobs that have solenoid probs with the oil on the full mark.

The oil should sit between the full and empty marks on the dipstick.

When I first had my Scoob, I filled the engine to max, and it caused all the problems Roy describes! Took a while to work it out too...

It's not been a problem since I cleaned it and let a little oil out. (Only about a cup full)

Sorry forgot to say always run it at 1/2 to 2/3rds way up the dip stick.

I've had both TSL and Xtreme scoobies check it out all have commented on that all the pipes appear clean of oil contamination.
I had another specialist remove it completely (didn't know how to get in to cycle mode ) and he comented that the hole unit seemed really clean.

I know when it blocked up because on my way to work (short run on dual carriageway) you can hear the damn think clicking away from inside the car (goes away when warm) looks like i'm going to have to replace it

Hmmm... This may sound strange, but check the voltages given by your throttle position sensor.

If you're still coming over to the IOW on Friday, nag me to have a look with SelMon.
