If someone could tell me how people are getting 1Bar@3000rpm on a TD05 front entry turbo that would be great. I was thinking that a daws set to .5bar before the wastgate control solonoid would help spool but would not create the part throttle full boost problem. I am running a TD05, headers, full exhaust, 600cc injectors, and a UTEC.
Any sugestions?
Thanks
Mark

Is it posible to make that much boost that early in the rev range?

I don´t think it can with headers. Most headers move the spool up a little to higher revs.

(Even with standard manifold I think it will need quite some tricks to achieve 1 bar @ 3000 RPM)

I get 1 bar at 3200 rpm in 4th on my car (fe td05).
That's with a GT-Spec 4-1 header/uppipe.

Hint...let the dawes control boost altogether. Works beautifully.

Agree with S.A.M With a Dawes, 1 bar by 3200rpm on gruppe-s headers is no problem.

Does the dawes cause the part throttle full boost problem? I like having the control of the utec as I can map boost to rpm and throttle position. I guess I will have to give the dawes a try.
Thanks for the input

Cool

Andy,

This 1 bar at 3200 rpm... does it involve left foot braking or anything like that to load the engine up?

No Moray, with my gearing (ra) 5th gear is identical to a UK 4th gear, so when somebody says 1 bar at 3000 in 4th, I run mine in 5th to compare.
By holding back on the brakes I can get 1 bar at approx 2800rpm

Does making it front entry slow spool?

My standard TD05 with just a decat, Scoobyecu and HKS mushroom on MY96 still with 380s is getting 1bar at 3000ish...?

What about downpipe splitters, they should bring the spoolup down a couple of hundred RPM.

I get 1bar at 3000 with MBC, 2" uppipe, std headers and no splitter.

Cool

Thanks Andy. I suspect that wrapping the headers makes a bit of a difference.

Thumbs up

Yes, wrapping does help Moray. Spool up when the manifold is at 700C is far better than when it's at 300C (like 300 rpm better)
Not sure how much difference the splitter makes before the wastegate opens, it may help as it offers the gasses a smoother exit route ?
I found the ported exhaust manifold helped power but didn't notice the effect on spool, not saying it didn't change spool, just that I didnt notice probably because I changed another 20 things at the same time

Andy
