I just popped the bonet and cannot see anything new except a black thing to the upper right of the engine... two smallish pipes coming out of the top and its black... looks new but looks more like a fuel filter to me. Where is the fuel pump then? Oh.. its in the fuel tank LOL... cant check it then!

Has anyone heard of Sitek.. sytech, sitech... ???

Unhappy

My baby's not well again... all going fine and drove to pick up my son.. sat in idle for about 10 mins and when he got in the car and I went to drive away, nothing!! Took my foot off the gas and applied just a smidgen and I started rolling but it was hit and miss... I embarrassingly managed to get home but now I have to put her in hospital again.

Seriously, back in March I had the boost control valve replaced for a similarly feeling problem although that only occured at high speeds.. surely that can't have gone again so soon?

Maybe it doesn't want to be pink and is going on strike?

Any check engine light activity?

Boost control valve - are you talking about the standard solenoid, or do you have a Dawes (or similar) under there?

Also, what MY?

If one more person cracks the PINK joke I will kill them!

Its a 96 STi2

In fact - I know its not the control valve as now it wont even boot (oops, I meant start). The strange this is, week before last Dan filled up the I/C water bottle and now its empty and when I opened the bonet tonight after getting home it was really really hot! I mean so I could hardly hold the metal stick thing to hold it open.

In hindsight she has been rather sluggish for a week or so now too.

Its bad boys.. I just know it My pink car paint fund has gone back to zero now.

Triton are picking up up by ambulance tomorrow so I will let you know what it was.

just a guess, but it could be the CAM / CRANK sensor mucking about. that would almost certainly give a CEL tho ....

or throttle position switch .. had a similar problem on mine if you left it on idle for a while. would go away with a restart tho !

hope it gets fixed & cheap too ..

come on 'the pink'

Looking a bit pink around the gills there Karen!

Was the temp gauge looking normal when all this was happening?

Yes it was looking normal and yes I did have petrol in it

Dont worry Ron - blame can only be apportioned to the car My neighbour very kindly offered to lend me his car for the rest of the week... I did say though, if his ever breaks down he cant borrow mine LOL.

Well, it was a dead fuel pump! About £350 including labour and recovery

Looks possibly, according to threads here about fuel pumps, that it could have been knackered after having my full de-cat exhaust thingy done.

SG,
Is it done now then? or do they need to get the pump?
If it's done, does it feel better than it did the other day, cos you didn't seem convinced that there wasn't something wrong with it then,

Decat would have no effect on fuel pump, other than you asking for more petrol with the loud pedal.. lol.. but it wouldn't cause it to fail.. imho anyway

JGM

PS: £350? is it gold plated?

JGM, recovery cost will probably cost more than the pump.

SG, should`ve taken the oportunity to fit a walbro pump and FPR (less than £200 for the lot) then you`d be ok for 'future mods'

Well, I was told the part was £240ish so with recovery and labour that would bring it up to around £350.

What did annoy me was the fact that they went ahead and ordered the parts and wern't even going to phone me - they were just going to contact me when it was ready. I would have like to have been given the chance to make sure what I was getting was the best for my money.

I will have to take that up with them when I go to pay. I will let you know what make and model it is when I pick her up. Should be tomorrow hopefully.

I would slate them for it & refuse to pay !
they HAVE to check 1st !!

you might have said - err .. no thanks... & walked / pushed it away!

that is FORCING you to buy their products and services!!!

buy an uprated one .. better, safer & read for those bigger injectors, new ecu / map ......

I will see what they have put in first. I definately want to do a remap or new ecu later (after my bling bling wheels and pink paint job)...

I might be pleasantly surprised and they may have known just what I wanted

I would cancel the order for the pump at that price - and get a motorsport one from a specialist jap dealer. I had one from WMS Tuning in Wincanton recently £130 +VAT + Fitting

I would deffinatly be speaking to them regarding the price of the part that they are fitting, see :-

http://shop.scoobynet.co.uk/Product.asp?ProductID=551

This is an uprated part over the one that they are fitting.

Today I called Triton again. I asked if they had my part and I was told no. I asked if they had chased it and they said yes but hadnt heard back but would chase after lunch. I called them at 11.15am. I called back again at 14.10 and was told that the part should come in tonight or tomorrow morning.

Now, when I spoke to the old guy mid morning he was quite off. I said that if they couldnt supply the part I could order from here and get the part either tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest. I was told that was not ideal as they had already paid for the part over the phone by credit card. I said, regardless, they could return for a refund. I was also told I could not have the number for their supplier to chase it myself.

Anyway, after speaking to them mid afternoon, and being told the part would arrive today or tomorrow morning I relented. I asked what make the part was they ordered as I could get a Wal thing for £125 (printed from here).. I was told I was getting an Americal uprated pump much better than the Walbro.

I am ready to eat the head off of (having read this after it sounded rather rude.. so no jokes please) who ever gives me the bill tomorrow.. thats to say I even get her back tomorrow...

I get the sneaky feeling they had the part all along and just havent had time to fit it... thinking Im a girl and I can wait!

F...uck.. now Im REALLLLLLY mad

Did they say it was an uprated pump ?
Tell them your Insurers want to know the make and model; as its non-standard...(may make it easier to look up a price).....

and find out if they're bullsh!ttin
