Ive had a knocklink fitted to a 93WRX for a few weeks now. At the same time I did a full magnex decat, GG up-pipe, Blitz SUS and started adding Millers to my Optimax. Reset the ECU to take advantage of it all.

The link is set to max sensitivity and usually lights the bottom green with the second flashing near peak power (6.5k), which I guess is normal. However, twice now I've noticed all the lights, including the very bright danger top one flash once, briefly, when at full tilt in top. The lights didnt illuminate one by one, it was happily on a steady single green and suddenly went all xmas tree on me. I immeadiately got out of the throttle so didnt wait to see the illumination was going to turn continuous!

Could it be an occasional noisy signal or a real problem? If the latter, why would it be intermittent and very occasional? The car runs a 260 bhp ECU and boosts to about 0.95 bar when the ambient temperature is cool. The Bosch sensor is mounted to an M6 tapped hole I found under the i/c.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Andy S.

It may be that the lights are lighting up due to back ground noise like gear change and engine noise. Maybe you should try a bit of NF octance booster.

Yeah I wondered if it was another source of noise making it light up, but Im guessing the sensor must have a resonant frequency similar to that of det so that would be coincidental (unless the sensor covers a wide freq band)

Is NF better than Millers?

Anyone else had this occur on their car?

Cheers

REMAP..if ur knocklink is lighting up then dont risk it.once u start modding these cars u need to think about fuel and intake temp.running decat and filter will take u very close to the edge and when booting it away from the lights with heatsoak the standard intercooler cant handle it.modding can become very addictive

You mention "full tilt in top" As well as the traffic light grandprix (heat soak) the above mentiond is the most brutal on these engines and is known to kill em. The top mount I.C cant cool enough at high speeds. Avoid full bore in top gear, at the very least until you can get a remap/ecu.
