Thinking of going this route with my currently standard MY98 UK turbo wagon:

Full 3" exhaust system with de-cat (or sports cat)
Power Engineering "Phase 1" ECU re-map
K&N Panel Filter
Forge re-circ dump valve

Will I go "WOW!!" or will I go "Hmmmm" with the results???
I have been told that the car would probably end up with 270 to 280 bhp, so I would think I'll feel a large increase in performance, but I have heard of cars with monster power that just don't seem that quick.
I think standard figures for the UK turbo are something like 6 seconds to 60 and 144mph top end.
What improvement do you think I'd see? A good chunk more mid range would probably satisfy nicely!!

I would personally do the de-cat first, and then remap if you feel you need a bit more, and beleive me, you will notice the difference, it brings the car alive!

It depends on the mapping to some extent as to whether a car feels quick or not. A standard Scoob feels quick due to the way the boost kicks in quite quickly.

The flip side is a big NA V8 car - such as a TVR - which doesn't feel as quite as quick through the gears, but is really a bit quicker. (At least in a straight line )

Also, the smoothness (and therefore the feeling of speed) depends on the driver. A friend, who happens to be a class 1 police driver, drove my Scoob, and it didn't feel too fast, until I looked at the speedo!!

Go for the exhaust anyway, it's worth it for the noise
Not so sure about the filter - I've not found they do much good.
The dump valve is again probably of little benefit, unless you are having problems with the OE one. (It's possible - sounds like someone blowing over a milk bottle)
As for the remap - yes, if the car is not happy with the exhaust, or you decide to go for an induction kit and need to cure lean spots.
