Giving the my00 turbo a bit of a blast last night, and all of a sudden I couldn't select fifth, slowed in neutral, and then it all came good again, it was very stiff, and I didn't want to 'shuv' it into gear, currently running about 270ish bhp, and similar torque, could this be a fluke (sp) or is the box going???

Could be worn baulk ring or synchro, but only way to find out is to wait and see if it gets worse, and ultimately take a peek inside the box.
If the problem confines itself to top, at least there's the comfort that 5th is relatively easy to get to and change.

Had MY00 synchro go 3 weeks ago. Needed a Subaru mod (yes they are aware of this problem on later classics). Take it to your nearest dealer mate!!!

Interesting...I was on the nurburgring and changed from 2nd to try for 3rd. No gears available!
Had to pull over and after a few seconds everything was OK again...
I was putting that down to over-warm clutch fluid?
