Engine over-run???

I've found that between gearchanges, the engine seems to over-run.
If I watch the rev counter, it blips upwards briefly before dropping.
At first I thought it was just me driving like a bit of a flid
But i've found that unless I release the accelerator so early that the car nosedives, I can't stop it.
I was thinking it may be some kind of fuel cut problem but I'm definiteley no expert, so over to you.
Cheers![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Hmmm, AE802 ECU. I've got one of those. It's sat on a shelf in my garage after I got an 800. Better in more ways than you could imagine!
Can't remember whether this was one of the faults of the 802 or not, doesn't ring any bells. How bad is it, 100rpm? 1000rpm? Something in between?

How strange.
I was just about to post this.
Same model, same problem, same initial thoughts.
Anyone got a clue? Or should I just mention it when it goes in for a service next week?

The thing you guys describe is nothing more than a 'gizmo' from the ECU to keep te engine on the right 'revs' so that you have time to make a gearchange without the revs falling down.
Otherwise you're gearchange point will not be so smooth as it is now...
Creepy, all MY99 an 00 have that...

Or a sticky BOV? It can jam shut, so not release pressure - the car continues to accelerate briefly after releasing the throttle. Should come on again harder & faster as well, as you're effectively not running a BOV.
But it might not be that

Oh well, if everyone else has the same thing happening I won't worry. I was just concerned cos I drove a mates P1 and it didn't do it. I guess its just a quirk of the my00.
