Help! my nossle keeps getting blocked.
Has anyone de-scaled their I/C Waterspray bottle and system.
I used water from my household supply, but the water where I live is very chalky.
Now use battery top up or distilled water from Halfords.

I was wondering if a scale away tab used for kettles and irons etc would do the trick, I hope it is kind to the Intercooler though.

Any feedback would be great.

I think the only solution is to use distilled water. Any additives (vinegar would work too) will be acidic and will gradually corrode the IC.

Or, just take the jets off and soak them in a descaler every now and then.

I have descaled the i/c jet by soaking it in a de-scaler solution loads of times but I think the problem may be in the i/c tank.

I will have to remove it and clean it out.

Unless the scale in the i/c tank is loose, it will have NO effect on your jets.
What you are seeing is a build up of limescale due to evaporation: the same as with stalctites, and stalagmites, but speeded up due to pressurised water, and air flow.
The only answer is to do as Pete says, or descale the jets on a regular basis.

I do de-scale it on a regular basis but it keeps blocking up.
I ran the tank almost dry so the light on the dash came on and I could see lots of scale floating about at the bottom.

Try using water from a water filter (e.g. Brita or Kenwood) after you have cleaned out the tank. You will find it much cheaper than battery top-up water, especially if you already have one at home.

You can also use water from a de humidifier as this is de ironized during the process. Also, try local hardware store as I paid £2.99 for 5ltrs. (Now have a big bottle for the old man as he has a de humidifier (and waters free )

If you disconnect the hose where it feeds into the jets you could run some vinegar or similar solution through the system and then out into a bottle or something at the end of the hose. Just have to have someone handy to keep their finger on the i/c spray button. Then flush it out with normal water and reconnect.

Or you could use already boiled water or distilled water, white vinegar will disolve lime build up.

Avoid all the probles by using distilled water. I by it from my local auto parts distributer in 25 liter can, prise for 25 liter is around 5 pound. Whit that price I do not take any risk with water from the tap.
