Anything i should watch out for?
#1
Ok I'll reply !
I know that on some cars (MY99 / 00 ? ) the MAF is very sensitive to being affected to and the oil on some filters (I think K & N included in this) CAN cause problems (some people have no problems, some have problems very quickly IIRC).
Do a look through threads in Drivetrain to see if your year is included as I can't be sure of this.
A safe upgrade from the std airbox/filter is the sti panel filter which has no MAF worries.

Is there any little things i should look out for?
Will i get any problems? Has anyone encountered any engine issues when this had been done?
All help comments appriciated

Craig - not as much to worry about with your 97-98 Maf as it is much more "heavy-duty" than the hot-film MAFs on the 99- cars.
I still feel that Maf failures are more due to poor installation and vibration of the MAF housing than it being down to the filter itself.
I have run the K&N filter (from a certain V8 4X4)for about 2 years and 19,000 miles - NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM YET!
Mail me if you need any help! (although I must say that in your current state of tune it will be more for noise value than performance!)

It can also alter air-fuel mixture.
If overoiled will cause issues.
APS in OZ will tune the car when OE filter is replaced with APS cold air induction (K&N)
PS.APS is one of the best WRX shops here with a solid reputation.

The K&N57i will cause the MAF to underread slightly, not too much to worry about except during spool up where you will loose torque.
Ensure that the support bracket to the header tank is nice and tight.
Also make sure the cone filter itself is rotated to be as low as possible otherwise it will foul the drivers side bonnet vent.
Andrew...
PS. I've run one for about 18 months on a '98 with no problems whatsoever.
