Can any of you out there tell me what the best dump valve is on the market at the mo to suit my MY97 classic. I've been told the baileys piston type are good but, do you get the 'Whoooooosh' noise that is so pleasing to the ears??? Collins, Bailey???? any others?? Ta.

hey pilkster,
take no notice, a dump valve does no harm, in fact it probably does the opposite. when you let of the throttle, with the butterfly closed the pressure is released through the dump valve so it dos'nt back pressure the compressor wheel in the turbo.
unless you are willing to spend big money, dont bother. something like a hks sqv will work well, but cheap ones like bailey etc, will upset your air flow meters.

NO - honestly, you are going to look like a right ******** driving around with a wooooshing Dump Valve!!

Saw/Heard a cossie come down our road with that sound .... everyone .... but everyone ... looked at him in that '*******' way that 17 year old boys in Novas are entitled to!!

If you are over 17 years old and like respect DONT GO THERE!!!

Go for the HKS ssqv mate, no boring whoosh sound. It makes a high pitched whistle chirp type of noise, scares people nicely.

Agree entirely with the Nova theory. Need to get rid of mine (on car owned for 2 weeks). How much is the HKS squeaker (watched C4 WRC highlights so think I know what you mean) & is it an easy swap?

Cheers

I really don't see what the problem is with having a dump valve, it comes down to personal preference at the end of the day. If everyone listened to others as to what they would put on their cars, or in other walks of life, we really all would be *********, wouldn't we!

Cool

I've gone for an APS twin dump for my PPP'ed 02 WRX - it recircs and VTA's so no air flow meter issues and the pressure needed to VTA is adjustable so you can have it mainly recirculating and only when you push it hard do you get any noise - therefore no dodgy looks from jealous on-lookers unless you are really trying!

Also, really well engineered - very nice piece of kit.

was told by John Banks that a VTA d/v is NOT recommended, a better re-circ one wouldn`t do any harm though.

i know who`s advice i would follow

Pete, don't you think it's a bit extreme calling everyone with a dump valve a ********??

Personally, I don't have one at the moment but your strange rants won't stop me getting one in the future.

They serve a purpose, thousands of people use them. Potentially, that's a lot of people you've just pi$$ed off with that remark.

Still, each to their own I suppose.
