I know it did with my peugeot 405 but haven't fitted one to the scoob although I know several people on this bbs have them as there was a group buy a year or so ago. Maybe try posting this up in general for a bit more coverage. I would like to know as well because my import can be hit or miss on emissions too.

Nope, can't possibly work, the pseudo-science mumbo jumbo in the advert that purports to explain how it works is just that, mumbo jumbo. CCC tested one on a golf in proper scientific back to back dyno tests and couldn't even tell the difference between it fitted and not fitted. (The hypocrites still carry the ads though.....)

From what I can remember, all it does is add additional air into the system. Depending on where it's put, that means either the ECU notices & compensates & therefore there's no difference, or the ECU doesn't notice & makes the mixture lean, so it's possible to get better economy & possibly emissions (depending on how the car's set up), although it's far more likely i just screws stuff up. On a WRX that probably means a good chance of it destroying the engine.

So it's probably not a good idea, no .

I KNOW it worked on my peugeot, it was even recommended by owners of 205 GTI's to help with the 1.9 engines "kangarooing" at low revs. My fuel economy went up by a couple of mpg as well. Emissions were never a problem though with that car and to be honest I didn't fancy the idea of making my import run leaner than it does already so I have never bothered but I know quite a few people on here fitted them after the group buy so hopefully some of them will comment.

I've had one fitted to my MY99 STI Type-R for about 15mths now. I can honestly say it made no difference whatsoever to my fuel economy. I have now locked it shut to convert the tubing back to a normal pipe. If anything my economy has slightly improved since closing it off. My advice : Load of ****!!!

FOR SALE : ONE ECOTEK : ONE CAREFUL OWNER ; IMPROVES FUEL ECONOMY TO 50 MPG ON ALL SCOOBIES.

Craig.

How come I can slag the ecotec off as much as I like but if I so much as mention the Broquet fuel catalyst I get threatened with the guillotine?

Odd.
