type r fuelling question?

chaps, as most of you know by now i am the proud owner of an STi 5 type r, and very proud of it too !
just a quick question, what fuelling is best for my vehicle, i appreciate that they use 100 octane fuel in japan, but can i just use super unleaded as it seems top be running perfectly fine on this as it is a standard car apart from the exhaust, kakimoto racing.........
ive read up on the octane boosters but are they really neccessary on a standard car or am i being a fool ? i do high milage and the prospect of paying 12 quid every second tank full seams a little daunting!
many thanks dave

Why £12 every other tank?
I put 1 bottle of NF oneshot in mine to a tank of Optimax, bought in bulk this works out just over £3 a bottle.
I don't think my car actually needs this stuff, but it certainly makes it drive much smoother.

Dave,
It's a safety factor to run the octane booster with Optimax for any JDM specced car. Optimax is 98 RON and with the addition of octane booster you will get closer to the 100 RON the car was designed to run on.
With plain Optimax or SUL you may get det. This is from info posted by others with JDM cars that have experienced det with no octane booster.
It would also be a great idea to invest in a Knocklink so that you can monitor your engine for det. If at some stage you can't get octane booster you will be able to see if your engine is detting. There is a group buy on these Knocklinks going on at the moment. Info here if you're interested. http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=221781

It's not £12 for every other tankful! I have a STi 5 Type R, and befor I had it remapped, i used to put a percentage of NF race in to how much I was filling the tank (i.e. 3/4 of a tank = 75mls NF, 1/2 tank = 50mls NF) I.e. one bottle of NF lasted 4-5 tankfuls - without ever lighting the Knock link sensor over the first Green LED
