Problem when cold.........
Guys and Gals,
My UK300 has recently started 'juddering' quite badly in first and second when first pulling away in the morning. Once I've driven a few hundred yards and gone through the gearbox, all is fine. Is this a sign of clutch wear or could it be something more serious?? Any comments are most appreciated.
Cheers,
Col

Two week ago my clutch judder was so bad that i was going to do a flywheel/clutch warrenty job on my car. Before i did this i decided to have alittle play with some clutch slipping 0 - 60's.
Ever since i burnt my clutch alittle, the judder has dissapeared.
Worth a try????

I'm convinced the 'clutch judder' - when cold, anyway - isn't anything to do with the clutch, it's simply the too-early switch over to the lambda that the ECU does. The lambda is used for information for the mixture when it isn't hot enough, hence the power comes in surges, so the clutch judders with the wavey power.
Anyway, it's an 'they all do that, sor' problem
.
No hitch IMHO, just can happen. Clutch burnouts do seem to clear it temporarily, but mysteriously I haven't suffered at all from clutch judder since the ECU started running open loop... (not 'listening' to the lambda, that is).
