I got some ramps last week for 15 quid for the pair

You have to be a bit careful tho, as clearing the bumper is a pain, and no chance if you got a splitter, although the rear of the car is ok

I just did my Backbox the other day, took me 10 minutes, and most of that time was getting the thing off the rubber mounts

I originally paid 20 quid I think for my Backbox & Decat Centre to be changed, but now I will do it myself

I've done a full de-cat on a MY01 twice now and it took 6hrs the first time and 4 the next. The trickiest part was getting the car air borne on ramps and axle stands. Next time I do it I'll invest in a high lift jack so I can raise the axle stands higher. The higher the car, the easier the job.

Steve

PS I recon I could do the centre sections in 30 mins. Be careful with the Lambda sensor if yours is a new age.

£30 is an absolute con IMO.
The gararge do this day in day out and have all the right equipment to do it. 10 minute job for them.
Have a vrack yourself - it can only go wrong

Find a high kerb.. put one side of the car on the kerb abd lay in the gutter..

If you have a jack that will go high enough you can jack it onto ramps to avoid bumper scrapes.

Problem will be the front bolts being seized..

we had to add a catted section to a guys scooby for the MOT, and then remove it again. we charged £15 (remember thats doing it twice)

£30 is a con, do it yourself. i changed a complete exhaust on my astra 16V with only 1 axle stand!!!
